Mad Sweeny says: "Like any good JW, I fell in love with her in "Leon, The Professional." "
..and non-JW, brother, and non-JW...
doesn't it seem like she's got a lot going on this year?
i hope she wins the oscar this time for 'black swan'.
(i haven't seen it, and...well, i never even saw 'closer', because i'm still a little new at r-rated movies.

during the announcements at our service meeting last night, they "encouraged" everyone to attend the jan 16 watchtower study as they would be reading a "very important letter" afterwards.
i havent seen anything pertaining to that on the site here.
does anyone have any more information about this, or is this maybe just a local thing?.
Jehovahs' chariot runs through JWN before it reaches the local congos....lol
...which in and of itself is evidence that JWN is sanctioned by Jehovah himself

The WT has the amazing ability to pull off what no normal corporation or the leadership of a group of people can.
They build up excitement for what is clearly an announcement geared to benefit the leadership.
How would an announcement at, say, Intel be received if it read: "The board of directors has decided to increase the work week to 45 hrs a week!!! Isn't that upbuilding and encouraging dear colleagues!!!"
Man, and the poor sheep falling for that bullshit....
interesting read.. gene healy: ours is a most peaceful era.

examiner columnisti'm a pessimist by nature, but when the new year dawns, i like to step out of character and look for the bright side.
This goes along in locked step with the teachings of JWs that the world will not end in a man made calamity.
What else, but a solid proof this can be, that Jehovah and its earthly theocratic organization have the Truth!
latest pew research reveals that 18-29 year olds now use the internet as their primary source of news.
interesting correlation between education and primary news source as well.. http://people-press.org/report/689/.
the national survey by the pew research center for the people & the press, conducted dec. 1-5, 2010 among 1,500 adults reached on cell phones and landlines, finds that more people continue to cite the internet than newspapers as their main source of news, reflecting both the growth of the internet, and the gradual decline in newspaper readership (from 34% in 2007 to 31% now).
Excellent!!! Bleed them dry (no pun intended)...
i am curious as to what the members here look like.
be totally honest now.
not everyone looks like a knockout or mr. buff.... .
A movie star....hmmm..no. But an athlete - Toni Kukoc in his hayday
i just downloaded the .pdf from jw.org for 'examining the scriptures daily--2011'.
i figured, why not have the daily text, just like old times?
anyway, i noticed that after the scriptural text and watchtower comments, the reference to the watchtower article that the comments were taken from is written as: "w09 7/15 1:1-3".. i take that to mean, first study article in the july 15th, 2009 wt, paragraphs 1-3. but the notation looks identical to the chapter and verse notation used when referring to scriptures in the bible.
Sorry, no coincidence here....bastards know exactly what they are doing...
witness literature has never had a nice flow to it.
a family member was a maoist and had these perfect english pamphlets prepared by a foreign government.
the grammar was perfect.
DagothUr,
Don't forget "Socialist Realism" used for the ugliest concrete-bouldered pieces of "art" ever casted. To top it off, we had to marvel them.....
we are now in the year 2011. you may recall some discussion at the turn of the century about how to pronounce the years 2000, 2001, etc.
it seems to me that the consensus was to say "two-thousand" and "two-thousand one" and so on.
but i think now that we are in the second decade of this century it is time to move on to the traditional two-number pronunciation system for the years and continue with it for the rest of the century.. just as 1975 is pronounced "nineteen seventy-five" and not "one-thousand nine-hundred seventy-five" it is time to pronounce the year 2011 as "twenty eleven" and not "two-thousand eleven.".
...or as SpongeBob says "Eleventy-Seventh anniversary"....
"let's see a show of hands of those who know that the end is very close (everyone raises thier hands while looking around at each other).
excellent!...we know this because we have a whole-hearted faith in the faithful and discreet slave don't we?".
no explanation needed .
Measured with a trillion year scale, yes, the end is very close - about 4-5 billion years away...
